Piano Tuning Kit with Gooseneck Tuning Lever and Rubber Mutes

Piano Tuning Kit with Gooseneck Tuning Lever and Rubber Mutes

This piano tuning and mute kit with gooseneck tuning hammer is a great tool for beginning tuners or for those wanting to own a hammer and mutes for occasional touch-ups.

These tuning products are manufactured in the United States. They are high quality, rugged and durable piano tuning products. The manufacturer has been making piano tuning hammers and piano tools since 1938 and takes great pride in manufacturing only the best tools that are available. Don't make the mistake of buying cheap imported junk--they are known to break quickly. If you want your tools to last years and years, we recommend spending the extra few dollars to get quality materials and craftsmanship.

Piano Tuning Kit Includes:

  1. Gooseneck Piano Tuning Lever with a quality 5 degree #2 star tip
  2. 3" x 3/8" rubber mutes with handles (Quantity 2)
  3. 2-9/16" x 1/4" rubber mutes (Quantity 2)
  4. Temperament Strip: 50" long, 3/4" x 1/2"

Piano Tuning Hammer:

  • One piece Gooseneck hammer with a quality 5 degree #2 star tip
  • 6-1/2" Wood Handle with a Nickel plated steel shaft
  • Total length of tool is 12"
  • High Quality basic level tuning hammer; Made is the USA

Mute kit Includes:

  • Temperament strip: 50" long and is tapered from 3/4" down to 1/2" wide
  • 3" x 3/8" rubber mutes with handles (Quantity 2)
  • 2-9/16" x 1/4" rubber mutes (Quantity 2)

Star Tip: Even though tuning pins have square ends, the star shape permits you to set the tuning hammer in the best position. You want the tuning lever to be positioned nearly vertical or inclining slightly to the right. This is not always possible with piano tuning hammers that have a square opening.

Why a Gooseneck Shape - and Who It Is For

A gooseneck tuning lever has a curved shaft rather than a straight one. That curve serves a specific practical purpose: it allows the handle to clear the piano plate, adjacent tuning pins, and surrounding hardware while the tip sits squarely on the pin being tuned. On upright pianos in particular, the pin spacing and plate geometry can make a straight-shaft lever awkward to position — the handle has to be angled away from the piano body in a way that reduces control. The gooseneck curve solves that by building the angle into the shaft itself, so the tuner can hold the lever more naturally while still achieving the near-vertical pin position that produces stable tuning.

The gooseneck shape is the right choice for home pianists who do occasional touch-up tuning between professional visits, beginning tuners learning technique on a single instrument, and anyone who finds a straight lever uncomfortable to position on their specific piano. For a deeper comparison of gooseneck vs. straight-shaft vs. extension lever designs and when each makes sense, see our complete Piano Tuning Lever Buyer’s Guide.
